Here’s a second part of my shopping adventure in marvelous New York City. The first one, about the Southern part of Manhattan you can find here.
I hope my impressions will let you prepare better your trip to the Big Apple.
I don’t know what happened there, but most of the boutiques that I remember from my previous trip to NYC has disappeared. Perhaps it’s due to the various new buildings erected and increasing rental prices? I was happy to find that my favorite Diane von Furstenberg is still there, and discovered ANИA – small but appealing with its design. My attention has been caught by the delicate jewelry as modern and very fashionable rings, waiting for us inside. Surprisingly the prices in dollars are the same as in euro.
Department stores rule here. Everyone can find there something to suit personal needs. Pay special attention to the floors with shoes! In Saks Fifth Avenue a special dedicated elevator will take you to 8th floor that’s a modern fotwear paradise, and it even has it’s own zip code (10022)! But don’t miss the first floor – a kingdom of beauty products. Fans of unique scents will get lost among Tom Ford’s Tabacco Vanille, Cafe Rose, Plum Japonais (225$) and many more.
Upper East Side
It’s worth visiting even only for the store window displays (and window shopping doesn’t cost a thing). Do you prefer to buy one special thing instead of four cheap ones? Well, iIt’s worth saving for something from Milly collection. Tops with catchy slogans cost $80, a blouse with flare sleeves – $325, dresses start at $335 up to $1500.
Designer Lilly Pulitzer‘s motto is “Anything is possible with sunshine and a little pink” and it can be felt right from the threshold of the boutique on Madison Avenue. Vivid colors, summer designs, light fabrics. Clothing prices start from $36.
Collections of Tory Burch cemented her position thanks to very consistent style, kept in the same elegant character from the beginning of the brand. The designer herself always wears her creations and is an outstanding and charming ambassadress of the company. Even if it’s not your style the boutique it’s worth visiting – to feel like at Tory’s house. Unique, warm and classy.
